We're looking for amazing muralists to lend their talents to the children of Malawi. Tag a piece of your art using #MuralsForMalawi on Twitter or Instagram for a chance to be flown out by Madonna to paint a wall in the first pediatric surgery and intensive care unit in Malawi! Submit your entry by September to be considered!
The Raising Malawi team just completed a visit to Malawi to check on our project to build a pediatric surgery and intensive care unit at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, the country’s commercial capital. The facility will include the country’s first pediatric ICU and will more than double the number of surgeries performed on children each year.
HIV and AIDS education for young people is a critical part of global efforts to end the AIDS epidemic. Educating young people empowers them to protect themselves and also helps reduce stigma and discrimination around the issue.
The Raising Malawi team completed a week-long trip to Malawi this March. On the agenda: moving forward with Malawi’s first pediatric surgery and intensive care unit. Earlier this year, Raising Malawi selected an architect and completed the building designs, so during this trip we met with the Ministry of Health to sign a formal memorandum of understanding and selected a construction firm. Raising Malawi is thrilled to break ground on construction of the pediatric surgery unit next month (stay tuned for updates on construction progress)!
