The Raising Malawi team completed a week-long trip to Malawi this March. On the agenda: moving forward with Malawi’s first pediatric surgery and intensive care unit. Earlier this year, Raising Malawi selected an architect and completed the building designs, so during this trip we met with the Ministry of Health to sign a formal memorandum of understanding and selected a construction firm. Raising Malawi is thrilled to break ground on construction of the pediatric surgery unit next month (stay tuned for updates on construction progress)!
We couldn’t visit Malawi without checking in on the I Am Because We Are Kids. An update on a few: Luka recently underwent surgery under the skillful care of Dr. Eric Borgstein. Luka recuperated well and is returning to his studies at Home of Hope orphanage. Fanizo rocked his first term at university and will return in June to continue his studies. Wezi is working hard in school!
