The Raising Malawi team just completed a visit to Malawi to check on our project to build a pediatric surgery and intensive care unit at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, the country’s commercial capital. The facility will include the country’s first pediatric ICU and will more than double the number of surgeries performed on children each year.

Here are the latest photos of the pediatric surgery unit – construction has progressed since the groundbreaking in May. We cannot wait to see the first patients walk through the unit doors. Stay tuned as we will continue share monthly updates about the unit’s progress!

Bird's eye view of the construction progress; the substructure is nearly complete and the first floor is being cast.
